Soon To Be Mrs. Schram

My dear friend, Carryn is getting married August 23rd to Justin.  Justin is on the fire department with Stephen and Carryn used to work with Stephen at the camp we met at.  Its been fun to see our friendship grow over the past several years and I know we have a lifetime of fun and laughter ahead!

Our friends Angie, Jenny and I hosted a fun bridal shower to celebrate the soon to be Mrs. Schram.  The weather that day was CRAZY...looked like a monsoon outside...the trees were bent in half, rain was pouring down, there was debris all over the roads but that didn't stop us from having a great time!

We had a ton of great food!  Angie made two delicious french toast bakes, blueberry cream cheese and cinnamon!  YUM!  We also had quiche, sausage, fruit, breakfast breads, donut kabobs, and cake!  We love some good cocktails so naturally there were plenty of mimosas and white sangria to go around!

Angie's platter of breakfast breads!

I saw this idea for donut kabobs on Pinterest (check it out here!) and decided they were a must!  Super easy and quick to make and a fun way to display these tasty treats!

Carryn and Justin are getting married at an apple orchard so naturally mason jars were a perfect fit to sip our beverages out of!

Delicious raspberry filled cake!

We had all of the guests fill out a little card with some advice for Carryn and Justin and stick it in a little photo album I made.  I bought a cheap plastic album from Michaels for $2, picked out some fun paper and cut it down to 4x6 size for each slot.  Then made a cute cover and called it a day!  Super easy way to personalize and store all of her advice!

We had the shower at our friend Jenny's moms house so we could accommodate the large number of guests we invited!  Jenny's mom loves to host a good party!  She had a friend of her whip up some beautiful floral arrangements that we all over the house!  She even had little flowers to be worn by the bridal party, moms and grandmas!

Favors!

As a unique twist to our invites we sent along a recipe card and asked that each guest write up a favorite recipe and bring one ingredient for the recipe to share with Carryn.  We got a lot of great things, from main dishes to drinks to desserts!  She was all set to whip up some delicious meals!

I made this fun little banner!

Some important people at the shower...
Justin's grandma Mimi (HILARIOUS!), Justin's mom Cindy, Carryn's mom Jean, Carryn's sister Jess, Carryn, Jenny, Angie and Kirstin

The fire friends were all there to celebrate the fun!
Patrice, Kirstin, Catt, and Carryn

Angie is a teacher and planned some fun games for Carryn to play.  The first one we played was where everyone was given playdoh and had to mold what they thought Carryn would look like on her big day.  Here is one example that Burke made.  Too funny!  Some of the them were very elaborate and others were simple hearts, smiles, flower, etc.  The guests were all very creative in explaining why they made the particular thing they made.

The next game we played was to quiz Carryn on how well she knew the groom...but with a unique twist.  For every question she got right she got a Hershey kiss to save for later.  For every question she got wrong she had to eat a piece of bubble gum.  She did pretty well but in the end had a mouth full of bubble gum and was having a hard time talking!

Carryn got a ton of really cool gifts!  Lots of serving pieces to host a great party!  Not surprisingly people bought things that went along with their recipe...myself included!  Carryn's sister brought a guacamole recipe and got her this really cool wooden chip and dip server.  I brought a sangria recipe and got her a beverage dispenser!  The list could go on and on!

It was a wonderful day celebrating our dear friend Carryn and catching up with friends we haven't seen for a while!  Looking forward to celebrating some more on August 23rd!
