Happy Homeowners

Its official!  We are homeowners!  Stephen and I closed on our first home a week ago!  I have to admit it still feels a little surreal that we have a house!  For those who don't know we had been looking at houses for several months and lost a few homes in multiple offer situations and had a short sale fall apart.  We feel so lucky that we ended up getting this house!  It is perfect for our needs right now and has plenty of room to grow with us over the years!

Here we are outside the house!

A little blurry...but we are jumping for joy!!

We haven't officially moved in yet because we are doing some renovations first!

On the docket for the renovations is hardwood floors, new carpet, lots of paint, refinishing the cabinets, new countertops, new appliances and some other smaller things that I won't bore you with!

My father in law, Bob starting to rip out the old carpet...and my dear husband "supervising"

Getting down and dirty hauling out carpet!  I am woman hear me roar!!!

I will do a full post with all the before and after pictures at a later date!  As of now we are planning on moving into the house in 2 short weeks.  Yikes...so much to do between now and then...back to the construction zone I go!!!

The Great Minnesota Get Together

The week before Labor Day is the best week of the summer if you are a Minnesotan.  That week = the Minnesota State Fair...otherwise known as stuff your face for a day, soak in some sun, check out the animals and people watch.

We made plans to go to the fair with our dear friends Kelsey and Garrett.  We all took a Friday off work and drove on down.  I have to say we scored a killer parking spot for FREE!  This is unheard of; no joke people literally charge $20 and let people park in their yards!  We randomly passed this school with a small parking lot behind it and there were no signs saying we couldn't park there so we did!  We only had to walk like 8 blocks to get to the fair entrance!

The Minnesota state fair is known for every food imaginable on a stick!  It is so wonderful!  We were all super proud of ourselves that we didn't eat to the point of being sick.  We spaced out our food really well!  We started off our day with mini donuts, followed by pronto pups (corn dogs), deep fried pickles, Hawaiian shaved ice, funnel cake, turkey drumstick, salt water taffy, French fries, and root beer.  Whew!!!

We also checked out some animals! We watched some sheep competition, checked out the cows and horses and even hit up the miracle of life barn with all the baby animals and pregnant animals!

The weather was pretty nice too!  We got there early so it wasn't too hot yet but boy oh boy, by the time we left it was HOT!  We were so thankful for air conditioning on the car ride home!

What a fun day we had!  Can't wait for the fair next year!!
